Yes, We Are Open!
The Paynter Center – Sustaining our ageless tradition 1976 – 2022
The Paynter Senior Center, a non-profit organization, has been serving the communities of Clayton, Alexandria Bay, Cape Vincent and Orleans since 1976. The Center is located on Strawberry Lane in Clayton and is open Monday through Friday each week, providing a place for lunch and camaraderie. Besides social events at the Center, we provide activities of card making, rock painting, nutritional information, oil painting classes and social events. The center has a big screen television, plenty of books to read and puzzles to do.
Our activities director plans many trips throughout the year both near and far as well as themed parties with entertainment and dances.
Today we have one of the most modern facilities for senior service in New York State. The Center would like to become a proven and reliable source of educational, informational and fun activities.
It’s never too late to understand that change can be needed to create a new outlook on life. More opportunities await you at the center. Seniors can immerse themselves in new thoughts and new programs. Join us! If anyone has a talent to share please contact the Paynter Senior Center at 315 686-3553. Like us on FACEBOOK. We are always in need of volunteer drivers for the buses. No special license is required.
Lunch is provided through the Office of the Aging and is prepared daily, Tuesday through Thursday, by Trinity Food Service. There is a suggested contribution of $5.00 for individuals who are 60 years and older. Visitors under age 60 pay $10.00. If a person doesn’t have the money to contribute, they may still receive a meal. Advance reservations are necessary and may be made by calling by 315-686-3553.
The dining and conference rooms are available for rent on an hourly basis. The rooms can be used for birthday parties, bridal and baby showers, and/or business meetings. Please call Sandi Baril at 315-686-3553 to reserve a date.

Today we ventured by bus over to Wellesley Island. We were met by Bri and she gave us a tour of the Nature Center, took us for a nature walk and made seed bombs with us. The weather and company were perfect. We had lots of laughs and shared some delicious cupcakes brought by Mary and Gary. We’re looking forward to visiting again this Summer. If you missed this trip be sure to watch for the next scheduled visit this summer 😎 ... See MoreSee Less
